Marriott Bonvoy
Credit Card Guide
3 cards across Chase and Amex. Stack them to accelerate toward Platinum Elite status, earn free nights, and unlock 7% hotel discounts — all without paying a premium fee.
Marriott Bonvoy Boundless®
The best-value Marriott card at any fee tier. The annual free night award alone is worth more than the $95 fee at most Marriott properties, and the automatic Silver Elite status plus 15 elite night credits make this a must-hold for anyone who stays at Marriott even a few times a year.

⚠ Eligibility: Not eligible if you currently hold the Boundless, Bold, or Bountiful Chase Marriott cards, or received a new cardmember bonus on any of these in the past 24 months. Chase’s 5/24 rule applies — applicants with 5+ new cards in the past 24 months are typically declined. Always verify at chase.com before applying.
Marriott Bonvoy Business® Amex
The only business credit card in Marriott’s lineup. Doesn’t count toward Chase’s 5/24. Pairs perfectly with the personal Boundless — together they deliver 30 elite night credits per year, putting Platinum Elite within reach for anyone who stays 20+ nights at Marriott.

⚠ Eligibility: Amex allows only 1 bonus per specific card every 7 years (Amex 1/7 Rule). You’re allowed only 1 personal and 1 business Bonvoy card at the same time and only 1 bonus in the last 24 months. Amex may show a pop-up after applying saying you’re ineligible for the welcome bonus — if so, you won’t be charged a hard inquiry if you decline. Amex limits you to 5 credit cards total. Verify at americanexpress.com before applying.
The strategy
Stack both cards to fast-track Platinum Elite
Marriott Platinum Elite requires 50 nights per year. That’s hard to hit on stays alone. But hold both the Chase Boundless and Amex Business card and you get 30 elite night credits automatically — meaning you only need 20 actual Marriott nights to reach Platinum.
Nights to Platinum Elite with both cards
Platinum Elite (50 nights) unlocks: complimentary room upgrades, lounge access at select properties, guaranteed 4pm late checkout, welcome amenity of 500–1,500 points per stay, and enhanced recognition.
💡 Apply for Chase Boundless first
The Chase Boundless counts toward your 5/24 count. Apply for it while you’re under 5/24, then apply for the Amex Business card — Amex doesn’t use the 5/24 rule, so you can apply at any time regardless of how many cards you’ve opened recently.
💡 Time your Amex Business application for the elevated offer
The current 150,000 point + $125 credit offer ends 7/15/26. The Amex 1/7 Rule means you can only earn this bonus once every 7 years — so apply when the highest offer is available. Check AmexOffers and your email for targeted offers that may exceed the public offer.
💡 Stack free night awards across both cards
Both cards give you 1 free night per anniversary (up to 35,000 points each), and both allow you to top up with 25,000 additional points. That’s potentially 2 free nights per year plus your signup bonus nights — all for $220/year in combined fees.
